This LEED® Gold certified center is nothing less than a work of art. The ccrd team approached this engineering project the way we approach every healthcare engineering opportunity: With an open mind and a sharpened pencil. The Winchester Medical Center project includes a renovation of an existing hospital, new one-story addition to the Heart Center and a new four-story North Tower Expansion. A lot of moving pieces.
The North Tower Expansion consisted of approximately 327,500 square feet of new up fit and shelled new construction.
The South Heart & Vascular expansion included a one-story expansion of cardiology support services with approximately 50,000 square feet of finished area and shelled area for noninvasive cardiology expansion.
Scope of work included: Expansion of Materials Management/Loading Dock area, expanded Emergency Department, relocated Labor & Delivery, new 36- bassinet NICU, new 20-room Observation Unit and new 48-bed Critical Care Unit on the 1st through 3rd floors. The fourth floor is shelled for future in fill. Renovations include reworking where connectors cut through 2nd – 4th floors, renovating existing critical care area in a 16-bed Step-Down unit and renovations of 2nd floor SW patient unit to create a 32-bed Ante/Postpartum unit with 29 bassinet Well-Baby Nursery.
