The Science Building at UT Arlington provided new research and teaching space for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Physics. The two departments identified a need of approximately 125,703 gross square feet of space.

The chemistry research spaces include Electrochemistry, Biochemistry, Plasma Research, and Analytical Chemistry. Chemistry teaching spaces include Freshman labs, Advanced Synthesis/Organic lab, Quantitative/Instrumental lab and Physical Chemistry. Chemistry spaces also include a large stockroom, faculty offices and student spaces.

Physics research spaces include a Nano-materials lab, Surface Science lab, Scanning Probe and X-Ray lab, Magnetic Nanolayers lab, and a super-computing lab. A Main Shop featuring a high-ceiling area for a 10-ton crane was also provided. Sharing the crane with the Shop is the large High-Energy Physics area. Both of these areas generate considerable vibration which must be isolated from the research labs. Physics also includes a new Planetarium with a seating capacity of approximately 200 faculty offices and student spaces.
