Sustainability
At ccrd partners, our dedication to sustainability and "healthy" building design is rooted in all aspects of the work that we do. We have experience working with the US Green Building Council´s LEED™ rating systems and are available to assist teams seeking certification. Using an interactive and participatory design process, we work with key stakeholders to create environments that enhance human health and productivity. Upon project inception, sustainable design goals and responsibilities for the project are established and clearly defined. After building a framework and a common vocabulary the design team can decipher realistic expectations.
ccrd partners works with the design team to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost effective design solutions that increase the quality of the built environment. Our expertise includes knowledge in water use, waste management, energy efficiency, day lighting, indoor air quality, passive heating and cooling, alternative energy generation, efficient lighting and mechanical solutions. ccrd partners uses a combination of energy modeling, natural ventilation modeling and passive solar analysis to allow project teams to make informed design decisions. Results from our modeling efforts can be used to predict operating costs, pollution impacts and LEED™ energy credits attained.
Considerable advancements to the indoor environment can be made by knowing the effects of lighting, temperature, humidity and airflow on human health and well-being. Strategic building design and orientation incorporated with energy system design and careful mechanical system analysis reduces the buildings negative impact on its ecosystem and could result in considerable cost savings for the client, the potential for better staff or student retention, greater control over the spread of infection, better patient outcomes in hospitals, and improved public perception of the facility.
